Inspired by the Studio Job’s “Robber Baron” bronze sculpture from 2008, this much more simplified version is an 85-centimeters-high reduced model of the Studio Job icon. “Empire” expresses Job’s fascination for landmarks and their meaning. “It speaks of the meaning of iconic buildings in our culture and the power that is housed within these huge buildings or landmarks” explains Job Smeets, “in this piece are melding strong yet different referential architectures”. From the Parthenon in Athens on the base to the Empire State Building in New York and the Capitol Building in Washington on the top.
