L'Artisan Parfumeur, nature enclosed in a bottle

L'Artisan Parfumeur is the result of a challenge between friends. And we really have to thank that bet for fun because it gave birth to a pioneering brand of niche perfumery, still among the most innovative and original today.

The founder Jean Laporte, in fact, was not a perfumer but a chemist; brilliant yes, but still a chemist.
The idea of dedicating himself to perfumes based exclusively on natural essences came to him after the experience of the banana perfume created at the request/provocation of a friend; who wanted to participate in a costume party at the Folies Bergères dressed as… a banana.

Challenge won.

That perfume sent those present into raptures and so much so that Laporte immediately tried his hand at grapefruit and vanilla fragrances: the year was 1976 and L'Artisan Parfumeur was born, because Laporte was loudly acclaimed, precisely, as an "artisan of perfume".

And there is no doubt that L'Artisan Parfumeur perfumes are handcrafted products in all respects, because they are the result of the master perfumer's "olfactory journeys" during which, instead of taking photographs, he immortalized the smells and then reproduced them in his laboratory.

Thus modern fragrances were born today as then, because the smells and aromas of flowers, woods, spices, aromatic herbs and resins are timeless, a symbol of authenticity and the desire to maintain contact with nature.
And a symbol of freedom: the only rules followed by L'Artisan Parfumeur are those dictated by passion, without ever giving in to the dictates of marketing or industrial mass production.

Indeed, Jean Laporte passed away in 2011 but his hallmark - creative freedom and artistic flair - are still those of 1976.
The master perfumers of L'artisan Parfumeur continue his work by pursuing his philosophy, the one that blends man's work with the beauty of nature: the natural raw materials and the structure of the olfactory notes must be known and understood to be harmonized in a sublime and balanced way and give life to true masterpieces, whose aromatic hints subtly shift and flow as the fragrance develops on the skin.

An example of such mastery? On the occasion of the forty years of activity (2016) the brand has launched a completely new collection, not only in the fragrances but also in the design of the bottle. No longer the iconic heptagonal one but round and essential because true richness is what's inside: each fragrance in the collection (created by perfumer Daphné Bugey) in addition to the name bears a number that represents the number of trials that were necessary to make it perfect.
So if Arcana Rosa required 9 trials, it took a whopping 63 to create Crepusculum Mirabile.

But this almost maniacal refinement is never at the expense of the best perfume tradition. All the fragrances of L'Artisan Parfumeur keep intact the charm and mystery of the old pharmacies, masterfully recalled by the iconic smoked glass seven-sided vials, the massive cap and the label that always bears, stamped, the seal-logo, sign silent of the craftsmanship dedication and authenticity of the brand.

Authenticity that, inevitably, is transferred to those who wear a perfume by L'Artisan Parfumeur, enhancing their personality. Are you looking for purity and delicacy?
Histoire D'orangers is a refreshing caress based on musk, orange blossom and neroli, the essential oil obtained by distillation of bitter orange blossom.
Does passion inflate your heart?
Then your reference perfume can only be Passage D'enfer Extrême, an eau de parfum in which incense and sandalwood light up each other, intensifying sensuality. Its emblem is a flaming red lily, whose delicate scent is a guide to forgotten paradises.

Finally, for the daring, we cannot fail to mention another bestseller: the iconic Mure Et Musc Extreme, the first blackberry perfume, a fruity, "dramatic" and avant-garde delight.

Now you know:
there are the perfumes; and there is L'Artisan Parfumeur. Have you ever wanted to let yourself be carried away on a journey of wonder and discovery? In the boutique and on the website we are waiting for you to let you "taste" the best of niche perfumes.
